Pigmentation spots at GLIF Medical, also known as hyperpigmentation, are assessed by Dr Peguy Télusma before any laser treatment at the Verdun clinic. These brown spots most often appear on the face, hands, or décolleté, areas regularly exposed to the sun.

Common causes

Repeated sun exposure, skin aging, certain hormonal changes, and post-inflammatory marks, following a breakout for example, are among the most frequent causes of pigmentation spots. Darker skin tones may carry a higher risk of hyperpigmentation after irritation or skin inflammation.

Our approach at GLIF Medical

A prior skin assessment identifies the type of pigmentation and helps choose the most appropriate approach, whether a targeted laser, a more complete resurfacing, or a combined treatment. Particular attention is paid to the risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation in darker skin tones. Results develop gradually and vary according to the skin type treated.
