Acne scars at GLIF Medical are assessed by Dr Peguy Télusma to determine their depth and the most suitable treatment. They form when the inflammation of a breakout damages the underlying collagen, leaving a depression, an irregular texture, or an uneven surface on the skin.
Common causes
Acne scars most often result from untreated or late-treated inflammatory acne, as well as from manipulating lesions, such as squeezing or picking. Their appearance depends on the depth of the initial inflammation and on skin type, since some people scar more visibly than others.
Our approach at GLIF Medical
Treating acne scars aims to stimulate collagen renewal and gradually improve skin texture. Several sessions are generally needed, and different approaches may be combined depending on the type of scarring. A medical evaluation helps set realistic expectations; results vary from person to person.
